Early Serious Mental Illness

Whether you are seeking care for yourself or looking for help for a loved one, Art Therapy House, Inc. offers early intervention to promote long-term recovery and independence.

What is Early Serious Mental Illness?
Typically, early serious mental illness occurs between the ages of 10 and 40 years old. However, early serious mental illness can occur at various points in the lifespan, and we do not turn individuals away for falling outside those parameters; we are here to serve all.  It refers to the initial phase when a person first begins showing symptoms of a severe psychiatric condition, most commonly a first episode of psychosis (FEP), schizophrenia-spectrum disorders, or severe bipolar disorder.

We offer a team-based, recovery-oriented treatment program designed to support individuals during early-onset mental illness and/or after their first episode of psychosis. By combining case management, medical care, therapy, and community support, we help young people stay on track with their personal, educational, and professional goals.

Art Therapy House, Inc.'s program is supported by Coordinated Specialty Care, an evidence-based model for early mental health intervention across Wisconsin. You can read more about state guidelines and resources on the Wisconsin DHS Coordinated Specialty Care page.

Whether you are seeking care for yourself or looking for help for a loved one, our program offers early intervention to promote long-term recovery and independence.
