Joanna is an art therapy assistant at Art Therapy House and a current graduate student at Mount Mary University, specializing in art therapy with an Emphasis in Counseling. A former art educator, Joanna discovered her passion for therapy while searching for adaptive art resources to better support her students. This journey led her to transition from the classroom to clinical mental health, where she previously served as a Mental Health Technician in the residential Trauma Recovery unit at Rogers Behavioral Health.
Joanna’s clinical background also includes work at Aurora St. Luke’s Hospital and the Donna Lexa Art Center. She utilizes an eclectic therapeutic approach, combining Narrative, CBT and Humanistic concepts, to meet the unique needs of the individuals she works with. Outside of the studio, Joanna is an avid creator who enjoys bookmaking, printmaking, drawing, painting and fiber arts. She can often be found reading sci-fi and fantasy novels or spending time with her husband and their cat, Sarai. |
