Sara is a current graduate intern who joined the Art Therapy House Inc. team in February of 2024. She is currently attending Mount Mary University with the goal of receiving her master’s degree in Art Therapy. Sara currently holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts Degree, concentrating in Illustration from Northern Michigan University. She has a background in children’s books and loves working with all people across the lifespan.
From a young age, Sara has been fascinated with the narratives unique to each person and how their stories unfold to them. She is especially interested in how we can rewrite our stories and change the endings. Sara believes in the power of transformation through the engagement of the arts and the healing qualities that can be obtained through art making.
Sara is passionate about the Adlerian perspective that all people matter and need to have a sense of belonging. She believes in the value each person brings and the vital importance of diversity in community. She incorporates Adlerian theory, person centered theory, and narrative theory into her practice.
When she is not working at Art Therapy House Inc., Sara enjoys gardening, raising butterflies, walking her dog as a family, playing with her pet guinea pigs and birds, photographing nature, and writing and illustrating her own stories.
