Sharon Johnson is a board certified Art Therapist and licensed art psychotherapist at Art Therapy House Inc. with over 6 years of experience working with cancer patients, survivors, and their families as well as groups focused on women’s self-discovery and empowerment. Her passion for community healing is evident through her collaborative efforts with Stars of Hope and the City of Waukesha in 2022, where she facilitated multiple opportunities for those affected by the Christmas Parade Tragedy.
Sharon's extensive background includes her role as an Art Therapist with Advocate Aurora, where she focused on supporting cancer patients, survivors, and their families. Her compassionate engagement with the creative process catalyzed healing and growth, making the journey more manageable and fostering positive change. Sharon's therapeutic expertise has extended to medical staff, hospital patients and their families, as well as residents in medical rehabilitation and long-term skilled nursing facilities. In addition to her role at Art Therapy House, Sharon also runs a private practice where she continues to engage clients in the creative process.
She earned her Master's degree in Art Therapy from Saint Mary-of-the-Woods College in 2017, complemented by a certificate in Trauma-Informed Expressive Arts. In 2023, she achieved certification as a MARI Practitioner (Mandala Assessment Research Instrument), harnessing the power of symbols and colors within mandalas to enhance self-awareness, self-understanding, and empowerment.
